The first meeting of the Washtenaw County Material Management Planning (MMP) committee is scheduled to be held on Thursday, November 14th at 10 AM at the Washtenaw County Learning and Resource Center (4135 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48108). This committee is responsible for identifying strategies to improve waste recycling and the need for additional landfill capacity. The MMP committee is our best chance to deny the proposed new landfill north of Arbor Hills.
Nov 14 MMP Meeting Packet (includes Zoom information)
Washtenaw County MMP Committee Members
The initial meeting will be a kickoff meeting to introduce the committee members, elect a chairperson, and deal with administrative matters. We do not expect any landfill discussion during this initial meeting. The Conservancy Initiative is represented on the committee and will post meeting summaries following every meeting. We expect to better understand the MMP meeting schedule and will alert the community to crucial meetings.
The Conservancy Initiative encourages the interested public to attend the MMP committee meetings and respectfully submit comments. A ZOOM connection has been provided (see link above) to allow the public to observe the meetings and make comments virtually.
NO NEW LANDFILL!
