Join us on December 9 at 7:00 PM at the Northville Township Administrative Offices (located at 44405 Six Mile Road) for an important Community Town Hall meeting. We will discuss GFL’s plans to construct a new landfill just north of the existing Arbor Hills Landfill. The Conservancy Initiative will host the Town Hall, and community leaders and elected officials have been invited to participate. Your input is valuable, and we hope to see you there!
About the Materials Management Planning (MMP) Process
Recently, Washtenaw County initiated the Materials Management Planning (MMP) process, mandated by Michigan’s updated waste regulations. The MMP process aims to create a comprehensive roadmap for waste disposal in Washtenaw County, focusing on increasing recycling rates. Proposed facilities, including new landfills, must be included in the County’s Materials Management Plan before EGLE can consider them for permitting.
Why Your Participation Matters
We encourage you to attend this Town Hall to express your opposition to the proposed new landfill at the northwest corner of Napier and Six Mile Roads. Advanced Disposal Services, a past owner of Arbor Hills, proposed a new landfill at this site in 2016 but withdrew their request due to community opposition. The Conservancy Initiative will present information on the MMP process and outline our plans to oppose the new landfill. The MMP process is the most important step in approving or denying a request to construct a new landfill.
Get Involved
Please share this invitation with your neighbors and encourage their participation. The Town Hall is open to the public, and we will reserve time for questions. To streamline the Q&A process, please submit your questions in advance via email to info@theconservancyinitiative.org.
Your voice matters in shaping our community’s future!
