If you have driven by Six Mile and Napier Roads over the past year you probably noticed construction activity at the landfill. Arbor Hills has constructed what is referred to as Cell 6. It is the next area where Arbor Hills will be burying refuse and it is much closer to Northville Township neighborhoods.

Arbor Hills has completed the construction of Cell 6 and has been issued an operating license to begin placing waste in Cell 6. The bad news for Northville Township residents is the landfill just moved closer. Cell 6 is approximately 1/2 mile closer to the Northville Township than the current active landfill area.
We have used Google Maps to show the approximate distances from Cell 6 to the nearest neighborhoods at the end of this blog.
It is likely odors will increase as the landfill operations move closer to Northville neighborhoods. Arbor Hills appears to know there is a risk of odors as odor machines (large fans which disperse perfume to mask odors) have been set up at the fence line near Napier and Six Mile Roads.

As the landfill begins using the last cell, it is more important now than ever that residents submit odor complaints if you smell a noxious odor. Use the links on this website to anonymously submit a complaint online. Please don’t assume someone else is reporting the odor. The odor reports are sent directly to the landfill for follow-up and to EGLE to allow investigation of persistent odor issues.
